Daily Drawing 30 Day Challenge on the Earth Wood & Bone Studio Blog

I'm creating a great positive habit with this 30 day Daily Drawing challenge from my previous post. You can read about it here.

Here are my reasons for loving this challenge and the awesome effect it has had on me:

  • Creates a positive habit.

  • Creates some Me Time.

  • Slows me down, relaxes me - settles my mind and body while working on building connections in my brain.

  • Improves hand-eye coordination.

  • Forces me to take the time to see objects differently by breaking down lights & darks.

  • Ideas happen.

  • Fills up my stack of unfinished sketch books.

Daily Draw Challenge by Earth Wood & Bone on the Studio Blog
I kicked off my 30 day challenge with a quick digital star burst on my ipad with the Art Set app.  I needed a warm up to dust off the drawing cobwebs in my brain.  You will see that this is very different from every other drawing in this series.

This drawing is the first one in the series that I did in an old unfinished small sketch book.  The paper is and aged warm tone.  This sketch is based on a picture on Pinterest of adorable home accents for Christmas & Winter decor.

This drawing is of my foot resting on pillow with another small pillow resting on that pillow.  Most of my drawings are done while lounging on the couch, looking at what is around me.

This drawing was done at the end of a 7hr migraine, so concentrating on a still life would have been a bad idea.  I traced a paper snowflake that I made previously and shaded in using complementary colors.  Not my best but it reflects my mood at the time.

This drawing is of my coffee mug on coffee table with books.  The perspective of the top of the mug was off and I shaded to try to fix it.  While it didn't fix it, I think the outcome is cool looking, kind of trippy.

My readers, which is a new frustrating thing to me, on my sketch book.  I feel like an old lady now that I need these for close up work & reading.  Where's my rocking chair and shawl?

My final drawing in this 30 day challenge.  My Staffie Leo, resting on a pillow, resting on my leg.  This was a still life which was the 4th attempt because he kept moving.  Fortunately this was done late so he was tired enough to lay still for 30 minutes.
